Tips to Successfully Conceive a Baby Boy

Many people believe that sex selection is possible. For some, it is simple science, while others see it as witchcraft. But there can be only one truth, right? Here, we will take a look at the popular methods and whether they are helpful. Whether you are looking to have a baby boy or a girl, we have a couple of tricks that will help you along the way.

Facts and Fallacy

Many believe that a person can influence the chances of having a baby boy. But is that true? A lot of “scientific” theories have been around, and most of them are proven to be inaccurate.

Let’s start with a crash course in biology. Chromosomes are what determines the sex of the baby. There is what we call male and female sperm. The male sperm contains an X chromosome, and the baby with XX combination will be a boy. On the other hand, the combination XY will mean that the couple will have a baby girl.

It all comes down to which type of sperm reaches the egg first. More precisely, which sperm will fertilize the egg will determine the baby’s gender. In theory, that means that there is a 50% chance of having a baby boy. But this is not entirely true. We must remember that there are other combinations besides XX and XY. While the other combinations are quite rare, that doesn’t eliminate the possibility of them happening.

Furthermore, according to WHO, the bias is tipped towards baby boys, and the stats show 105 boys for every 100 girls. In numbers, the percentage is close to 51% of having a boy. But the main problem with the X and Y chromosomes is that everyone assumes that a person will have the same number of X and Y sperm, which is not true. One of the studies showed how men with more brothers are more likely to have a boy, and those with sisters will probably have a girl.

Finally, there are theories that one testicle contains Y and the other X sperm, which is completely wrong. Moreover, herbal and complementary medicine remedies, diets, and other things won’t affect the chances of conceiving a girl or boy.

Timing of Intercourse

In 1971, Landrum Shettles and David Rorvik released a book named “How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby.” The book offered a couple of tricks and techniques that are commonly known as the Shettles method.

The entire method was based on the theory that male sperm (or Y) is a lot faster than the female one. In addition, being in an acidic environment can harm Y sperm, leading to the conception of a baby girl.

The first part of the method is based on having the right timing. A couple can time their intercourse and increase the chances of choosing the sex of their baby. Let’s take a look at the theory for couples wanting to have a baby boy. The couple should not have sex earlier than 24 hours before ovulation. Furthermore, they should avoid sex 12 hours after ovulation as well.

He believed that the perfect time for sex is peak ovulation and that it will sway the odds in favor of a baby boy. On the other hand, a time slot for a baby girl is between two and a half and three days before ovulation. The logic behind these numbers is simple.

Insemination should happen as close as possible to ovulation to allow faster Y sperm to reach the egg. We should mention that the theory is, unfortunately, just a theory. Currently, there is no evidence that anyone can change the success rate. In fact, some scientists claim that fewer baby boys were conceived during ovulation and that the logic behind the Shettles method might be reversed.

Sex Position and Orgasm

Now, having perfect timing is just one part of the process, according to Shettles. Also, consider sex positions to conceive a baby boy. Your choice of sexual position can make a world of difference, at least according to Shettles.

Shettles believed that shallow penetration, which will lead to depositing sperm near the entrance, can also lead to female conception. The reason for this is that the area around the entrance is the most acidic, which is not in favor of male sperm. Any position that allows only shallow penetration is not favorable for those looking to have a baby boy.

That means that deep penetration is something they should consider. It will help deposit sperm close to the cervix, which will increase the chances of X sperm reaching the fallopian tubes.

Another helpful thing is if a woman orgasms during sex, ideally before her partner. Orgasm will boost the alkaline properties in the vagina, and it will also cause contractions. The change in the environment and contractions are extremely favoring male sperm, and it can act as a boost to help the sperm reach its destination.

Finally, the male should avoid ejaculating at least four days before ovulation. That will serve as a final step towards tipping the scales and will increase the sperm count to conceive a baby boy more easily..

Now, all these theories are yet to be proven. There are so many scientists and studies that disprove the Shettles method, and they say that neither the position nor timing will affect the sex of the baby in any way. However, if you follow the method step-by-step, both partners will have an orgasm in the end, which is one of the reasons to continue following dr Shettles.

Reaching Orgasm When Having Deep Penetrative Sex

There are a couple of ways you can increase pleasure and reach orgasm during penetrative sex. The general rule of thumb is to pick a position that allows deep penetration, like doggy style. However, always focus on pleasure and having a good time. The primary goal is for both parties to have an orgasm, so starting with clitoral stimulation is the safe way to go.

Another thing you might want to consider is using sex toys. It is an excellent way to reach an orgasm since these toys are designed to help you along the way. It is up to you and your partner to find toys that you will enjoy using, and you’ll be delighted to know that the choice is almost limitless. There are so many adult toys designed for couples, and all you need to do is pick the one you like the most.
